Male, April 14 (The Edition)- Ten of the 20 Maldivian cabinet ministers resigned on Tuesday after the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) performed poorly in the April 4 local elections.

Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu announced that he accepted the results and promised to bring necessary changes to the administration. However, this did not satisfy many ministers in the cabinet. Ten of them quit together on Tuesday.
They are –
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Abdulla Khaleel
Minister of Defence Mohamed Ghassan Maumoon
Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim
Minister of Social and Family Development Dr Aishath Shiham
Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works Adam Shareef Umar
Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare Dr Maryam Mariya
Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information and Arts Ibrahim Waheed
Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim
Minister of Higher Education, Labour and Skills Development Dr Ali Haidar
Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Naseer
The President’s Office has confirmed that these ten ministers have resigned from their post. However, reasons behind their decisions to step down have not been disclosed as of yet.

The government has also recently dismissed several heads of State Owned Enterprises, while others have resigned.
