Dhaka, March 2 (Ekkator) – The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) of Bangladesh conducted a raid at the residence of Lieutenant General Saiful Alam, former Director General (DG) of the Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI). Bundles of cash totalling Tk 24.5 million (2.45 crore) were recovered.

The information was confirmed to the media on Sunday by Md. Akhtar Hossain, ACC’s Director General (Prevention Wing).

On September 11 last year, Lieutenant General Md. Saiful Alam was sent into mandatory retirement by the Bangladesh Army. Following the student-public uprising, he was reassigned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Earlier, on September 4, the Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) of the Central Bank had ordered the freezing of all bank accounts belonging to Lieutenant General Md. Saiful Alam his wife, Lubna Afroz. Additionally, their children’s and their businesses.
