Dhaka, February 17  (TOB)- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has formally invited Bangladesh’s newly inaugurated Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to visit India at his earliest convenience. The invitation also extends to the prime minister’s wife Zubaida Rahman, and their daughter Zaima Rahman.

In a congratulatory correspondence, Modi remarked that a “warm welcome” is prepared for the family in India. He further noted that the election result serves as a clear demonstration of the confidence and trust the people of Bangladesh have placed in Tarique’s leadership.

The message was delivered by the Speaker of the Indian Lok Sabha, Om Birla, who served as the official representative of the Indian government during the swearing-in of the BNP-led administration.

Speaker Birla, accompanied by Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, held a meeting with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman following the inauguration to convey India’s greetings and formalise the invitation.
