Corrections Policy
Last Updated: September 13, 2025
Commitment to Accuracy
- Every article undergoes fact-checking before publication.
- Accuracy is prioritized over speed; breaking news must be correct, not just fast.
Types of Errors
- Factual errors: incorrect names, dates, figures, or quotes.
- Attribution errors: misidentifying a source or misquoting.
- Context errors: omitting key information that changes interpretation.
- Technical errors: typos, broken links, formatting issues.
Correction Procedure
When an error is discovered:
1) Verification – Editors confirm the mistake and gather correct information.
2) Correction – The article is updated with accurate information.
3) Transparency – A correction note explains the change.
4) Timestamp – Major updates include “Corrected/Updated on [Date/Time].”
Placement of Corrections
- Within the article for minor factual fixes (note at the bottom).
- Prominent correction box at the top for significant errors.
- Social media updates if the error was widely shared.
Distinguishing Corrections from Updates
- Corrections fix factual mistakes.
- Updates add new details to an evolving story.
- Clarifications improve context without changing original facts.

Archiving and Transparency
- Original versions of corrected articles are archived internally.
- We do not quietly delete articles except in extraordinary cases.
- Readers should see when and how a story was corrected.
Serious Errors
- Significant misreporting may require a separate correction or apology.
- Legal consultation may be sought where necessary.
